CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture - a sustainable method of marketing fresh farm produce developed to bring funds to the farmer in the beginning of the year, and offer customers a designated slice of the farm’s harvests. These funds allow the farmer to purchase seeds, tools, compost and the like before the growing season begins. The customer is investing in the farm & their local community. In turn, they receive a regular bundle of farm goods whose value exceeds the price which the customer paid for it. It’s a win-win!
The Parcel Apothecary Herbal CSA is a collection of nourishing herbal extracts and fresh/dried herbs offered in five seasonal parcels. Shares are handcrafted and curated by Farming Herbalist Jessyloo Rodrigues in Providence, RI. The organically grown herbs, blooms, fruits & roots correspond to each season's requirements of the body and mind. Similar to eating in-season produce, in-season herbal tonics keep you balanced with the Earth's natural cycle.
Herbal CSAs are a great way to experience edible & nourishing local plants that aren't typically found at farmer's markets or grocery stores. Pick-ups are held 5 times a year on the farm at the Tonic Bar*, where you are invited to taste what's in season and see where and how your medicine grows with fellow Parcel Shareholders.
